Philadelphia Peach Ice Cream

Philadelphia – first US. capital. One of the first places were ice cream was served.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups peeled, sliced fresh peaches (about 6 medium-size ripe peaches)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups heavy cream, chilled

Directions

  1. In a food processor fitted with the metal blade or a blender, combine the peaches, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, almond extract, and salt. Process or blend until the mixture is pureed. Transfer the mixture to a medium bowl. Stir in the cream. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions.

  3. Brandied Peach Pistachio Sundae

  4. Peel, pit and slice 2 medium-size ripe peaches. In a medium bowl, combine the peaches with 1/4 cup brandy and 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice; let stand for 30 minutes. Place a generous scoop of Philadelphia Peach Ice Cream into each of 4 chilled dessert dishes. Spoon the brandied peaches over ice cream. Top with whipped cream and chopped pistachios.
