Tasty Cheese Scones

Another ‘fail proof’ recipe for cheese scones

Cook time: 20 minutes
Serves 10 people

Ingredients

  • 4 C self raising flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 50 g cold butter
  • 1 1/2 C tasty cheese, grated
  • approx 350 to 400 ml buttermilk, or mix of plain yoghurt and milk
  • extra grated cheese to top

Directions

  1. Mix butter into flour and salt, until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  2. Add cheese, and stir through.

  3. With a knife, mix butter or yoghurt/milk mix into flour mixture, to form a soft dough.

  4. Knead gently on floured board, cut into squares.

  5. Top with extra grated cheese.

  6. Bake at 200oC approx 15-20 minutes, until golden and firm.
