Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb beef brisket
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp celery seed
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tbsp flour

Directions

  1. Trim fat from brisket. Combine chili powder, garlic powder, celery seeds and pepper. Rub the mixture evenly over meat. Place meat in slow cooker.

  2. For sauce, combine catsup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, liquid smoke, and dry mustard. Pour over brisket. Cover and cook on LOW 10-11 hrs.

  3. Remove meat from cooker. Skim and discard fat from juices in cooker; measure 2 1/2 cups juices. In a medium saucepan stir water into flour; add cooking juices. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly; cook and stir for 1 minute more. Cutting across the grain, cut the brisket into thin slices. Serve sauce with meat.
