Cherry Jumble

Ingredients

  • 1 (N0.2 or 20 oz.) can sour red cherries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drain cherries, reserving 1/2 cup of the juice.
  2. Combine cherries the 1/2 cup juice and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and butter. Remove from heat.
  3. In a mixing bowl sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add water and mix well. Pour into a well-greased 9-inch square pan. Top with hot cherry mixture. Bake 40 minutes.
