Grape-Apple Jelly

Ingredients

  • 5 cups red grapes
  • 2 cups McIntosh apples, cored, peeled, chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup grape juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar for each cup juice

Directions

  1. Combine grapes, apples and water in deep 4-quart microwave-safe glass bowl. Cover. Cook on high power until tender, 15 to 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.
  2. Strain through several thicknesses of cheesecloth. measure juice to calculate for sugar. Place juice in 4 quart microwave safe glass bowl.
  3. Cook on high power 30 to 40 minute, stirring every 5 minutes. Remove from oven; let stand 5 minutes. Test for jelling.
  4. Pour into sterilized half-pint jars. Adjust lids. Process in water bath canner 5 minutes or freeze.
  5. about 3 half-pint jars
