Anise Biscuits with Balsamic Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 tsp. anise extract
  • Balsamic Strawberries:
  • 1 (16 oz.) container fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • Garnish: Whipped cream

Directions

  1. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating until blended well after each addition.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in extract. Spoon batter into s lightly greased 13 x9-inch pan.
  3. Bakes at 350 degrees for 22 minutes; cool 10 minutes. Cut biscuits with a 2 1/2-inch round or square cutter. Cool completely on wire racks. Split biscuits and serve with Balsamic Strawberries. Garnish, if desired.

  5. Combine all ingredients; let stand 1 hour at room temperature.
