Bulldogs in a Pretzel Blanket

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 3 qt water
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • mustard, for serving

Directions

  1. Cut pizza dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 12-inch long rope and wrap around a hot dog. Arrange on a lightly oiled baking sheet, loosely cover and set aside at room temp until puffy, 45 minutes.

  2. Bring water, baking soda and salt to a boil. Boil the wrapped hot dogs in batches, turning once, 1 minute. Transfer to a baking sheet; brush with egg, sprinkle with salt and bake at 400 until browned, 15-20 minutes. Serve with mustard.
