Chopped Steaks with Balsamic Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lb. ground beef round or sirloin
  • 3/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper, divided
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. sliced crimini or baby bella mushrooms
  • 3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can Campbell's condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. minced fresh thyme

Directions

  1. Form ground beef into 3/4 inch thick patties; sprinkle all over with 1/2 tsp. pepper. Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Pan fry patties over medium heat 7 to 8 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
  2. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms, and sauté 8 minutes or until tender. Stir in vinegar; cook 1 minute.
  3. Stir in soup, milk, thyme, and remaining 1/4 tsp. pepper; bring to a simmer; stirring until smooth. Serve over meat patties.
  4. To serve later, package the sauce and cooked patties separately and deliver with instructions to serve the patties in the sauce in a skillet.
