Mexican Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder, regular of hot
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2-3 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • cayenne pepper to taste, optional

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Combine the chili powder and flour and slowly stir them into the oil until it makes a smooth paste, Gradually add the water while stirring constantly to make a smooth sauce. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and cook for about 3 minutes until thickened.
