Chicken-Fried Steak with Pan Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup PLUS 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour, divided use
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 cube steaks
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped tomato
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 1/4 cups milk

Directions

  1. On a plate stir together 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 tsp. each salt, pepper and paprika. Coat cube steaks with mixture, pressing in to use all the flour.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet to 350 degrees. Fry streaks until well crusted n one side, about 2 minutes. Turn; cook 2 minutes Remove steaks from skillet. Pour off all but 2 Tbsp. of the oil. Return skillet to medium-low heat. Whisk in the remaining flour; cook 1 minute. Add the chopped tomato and chopped
  3. onion. Whisk in milk; cook until thickened, 3 minutes. Season to taste. Serve gravy with the steaks.
