Roquefort Firecrackers

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. Roquefort cheese
  • 1/2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened*
  • 8 frozen phyllo dough sheets, thawed
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 16 fresh chives (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine cheeses, sti8rring until well blended.
  2. Brush half of 1 phyllo sheet with butter; fold in half. Repeat procedure twice to make a 6 × 4-inch rectangle. Spoon 1 rounded tablespoon cheese in center of rectangle; roll up, jellyroll fashion. Twist ends, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Repeat procedure with remaining phyllo sheets and cheese.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden, and tie ends with chives, if desired. Serve immediately.
  4. *4 additional ounces Roquefort cheese may be substituted for cream cheese.
