Ingredients

  • 12 oz. beef flank steak
  • 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh oregano or 1 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 tsp. bottled minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. finely shredded lemon peel
  • 1 tsp. olive oil or cooking oil
  • 1/4 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
  • Lemon slices (optional)
  • Cucumber Slices (optional)
  • Curly spinach leaves (optional)
  • Snipped fresh oregano

Directions

  1. Trim fat from steak. Stir together oregano, garlic, lemon peel, oil and pepper in a small bowl. Rub mixture into both sides of steak.
  2. Boil on the unheated rack of a broiler pan 3 to 4 inches from heat, for 15 to 18 minutes or until a met thermometer inserted into the thickest portion reads 160 degrees (for medium), turning once halfway through broiling.
  3. To serve, thinly slice steak diagonally across the grain. If desired, garnish with lemon slices, cucumber slices, and curly spinach leaves. Sprinkle with snipped fresh oregano, if desired.
