Vanilla Cream Frosting

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 c milk
  • 2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, flour, and salt.

  2. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.

  3. Cook over medium until mix boils, stir constantly.

  4. Boil 1 minute, stir constantly.

  5. Remove from heat.

  6. Stir about 1/4 c hot mix into eggs.

  7. Gradually stir yolk mix into hot mix in saucepan.

  8. Cook over low heat, stir constantly until boiling.

  9. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla.

  10. Cover, cool 30 minutes, stir occasionally.
