Almond Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 small can evaporated milk (3/4 cup) plus water to make 1 cup liquid
  • 2 tsp. almond extract

Directions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and salt, cream well. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into a very lightly greased 12 cup 1Bundt pan. Put into cold oven; set temperature at 320 degrees. Bake 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cool 15 minutes and remove from pan.
