Anise Drops

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 Tbsp. lightly crushed anise seeds

Directions

  1. Beat eggs with sugar in a medium-size bowl until mixture is very thick and almost white.
  2. Resift flour and add gradually, blending well between additions. Stir in anise seeds.
  3. Heat a cookie sheet lightly and butter it, then chill it until completely cold.
  4. Drop dough form a teaspoon onto the cookie sheet, leaving 1 inch between cookies. Let dry uncovered, at room temperature, overnight.
  5. Bake in preheated slow oven (300 degrees) for about 20 minutes or until pale golden.
  6. makes about 7 dozen
