Churro With Chocolate Dipping Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • Churros
  • 3/4 cups sugar (for cinnamon-sugar covering)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon (for cinnamon-sugar covering)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for dough)
  • 8 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • Chocolate Dipping Sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk or dark chocolate chips
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Churros
  2. Mix 3/4 cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon into small bowl and stir around until combined well. Set this aside until later.
  3. Heat oil on medium-high heat and have prepared.
  4. Take a medium-sized saucepan and whisk in the salt, sugar, water, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and bring to a boil.
  5. Once brought to a boil, remove from heat and keep stirring while slowly adding in the flour.
  6. The dough will begin to form into a ball. Remove and let cool.
  7. Have your heated oil next to a plate lined with paper towels (for draining churros) and bowl with cinnamon-sugar mixture next to it.
  8. Put cooled dough mixture into a pastry bag with a large/jumbo star-shaped tip.
  9. Squeeze 8-inch long strips of dough into the hot oil.
  10. Once at proper length, use kitchen shears to cut off dough.
  11. Allow each of the churros to cook until golden brown.
  12. Remove from hot oil and place on paper-towel lined plate to drain off excess oil.
  13. After 15-20 seconds, place churros into cinnamon-sugar mixture and roll until adequately covered.
  14. Chocolate Dipping Sauce
  15. Place small pot onto stove and heat heavy whipping cream, but don’t allow to get to a boil.
  16. Remove from heat after mostly melted and stir in vanilla extract.
  17. Mix in chocolate chips and allow to melt while stirring into mixture.
  18. Pour out of pot into bowl.
