Dark Cake

Ingredients

  • Sl less 1 C mixed brown and white sugar
  • 1/2 C solid Crisco
  • 1 C water
  • 1 C raisins
  • dash salt
  • 1 t cinnamon, nutmeg
  • 1/4 t bakinb soda
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 2 C flour (more or less)

Directions

  1. Cook raisins plus the 1 C water for 5 minutes-

  2. Be certain there is 1 C of wetting solution after raisins and water are cooked

  3. Add sugar and lard to hot water and raisin mixture.

  4. As this cools, add remaining ingredients

  5. Bake slow-45 minutes
