macaroni and cheese

Ingredients

  • 1-16 0z box macaroni less about 1/5 box- after cooked
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1/2 C flour
  • 2 t dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 t salt
  • 5 C whole milk
  • 4 C cheese-2 C for sauce and 2 C for topping

Directions

  1. Cook macaroni

  2. In large saucepan melt margarine,

  3. Add flour, mustard and salt

  4. Gradually add milk- stirring constantly

  5. Cook until thickens and bubbles- abt 15-20 min

  6. Remove from heat and add remaining 2 C cheese

  7. Mix sauce and pasta-if want it moist, be sure and only use 3/4 to 4/5 box cooked pasta

  8. Top with remaining 2 C cheese

  9. Bake375- at most 45 min with foil or lid on

  10. Dries out if made ahead or frozen before cooked
