Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 1/4 cups chopped apples
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans
Directions

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Coat a 9-inch pie pan or cake pan with baking spray; set aside.

In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar together until creamy. Add egg and beat well.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda. Add dry mixture to butter/ egg mixture and mix well. Stir in apples, hot water, vanilla an nuts and mix well. Pour mixture into prepared pan and bake 45 minutes or until a pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
