Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake

Wonderful mild chocolate brownie like dessert.

Serves 24 people

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine first four ingredients in a mixing bowl. Boil together the margarine, cocoa and water. Pour over dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Pour into a greased 18 × 13 × 1″ baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 22-25 minutes. Frost while sill warm with this frosting.

  2. 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  3. 1 cup nuts chopped

  4. combine and set aside

  5. Boil together:

  6. 1/2 cup margarine

  7. 1/4 cup cocoa

  8. 1/3 cup buttermilk

  9. Combine with powdered sugar mixture and beat until smooth. Spread on warm cake.
