Apple Flaming Rings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup whiskey, divided
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 firm cooking apples
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice

Directions

  1. Combine water, 1/4 cup whiskey, and sugar in a large skillet or pyrocream pan. Bring gently to a boil and simmer 5 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, peel and core apples. Slice into thick apple rings. Sprinkle with lemon juice.

  3. Cook apple rings in syrup until tender. Do not crowd pan. Cook in several batches, if necessary. When all apples are cooked, pour syrup over apples.

  4. At serving time, warm remaining 1/4 cup whiskey in a large ladle, ignite and pour over apples. Spoon flaming syrup over apples until flames go out.
