Bacon-Cheese Open Faced Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 jar (5 oz.) sharp process cheese spread
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • Dash salt
  • 4 slices bread, toasted
  • Sandwich Garnishes:
  • green peppers, sliced
  • green onion
  • mushrooms, sliced
  • tomato slices
  • avocado slices
  • onion rings
  • olives, sliced
  • bacon wrapped olives
  • cheese, shredded

Directions

  1. Place bacon slices between paper towels or paper napkin on glass or pottery plate.

  2. Microwave for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes on high, or until crisp, set aside. Combine remaining ingredients, except bread, in small glass mixing bowl.

  3. Microwave for 30 seconds on roast. Spread cheese mixture on bread slices. Crumble bacon over top. Place each sandwich on paper towel on bottom shelf of oven.

  4. Microwave for 1 tro 1 1/2 minutes, on Roast, or until warm. Top with desired garnishes.

  5. Variations:

  6. Add 1 jar (2 1/2 oz.) chopped pimento and 1/4 cup chopped green pepper to sandwich mixture.

  7. Substitute 1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing, 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese and 1/4 cup chopped stuffed olives for cheese-onion mixture. Cut bacon slices in half, wrap around additional stuffed olives and use as garnish.

  8. Substitute 1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 tsp. oregano leaves and 1/4 tsp. dried parsley flakes for cheese onion mixture.
