Baked Orange French Toast

Ingredients

  • 8 slices French bread cup 3/4 to 1 inch thick
  • 6 eggs
  • grated rind of 1 large orange
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup orange liqueur
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. butter, optional
  • Confectioners' sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Butter a 9-inch square pan. Lay bread slices evenly in pan.

  2. Combine eggs, orange rind, orange juice, liqueur, half-and-half and sugar; pour over bread. Dot with butter, cut in small pieces if desired. Refrigerate.

  3. In the morning, heat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until puffed and set. Dust with confectioners’ sugar.
