Barbecued Roast Burgers

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. beef roast
  • 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Sauce:
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • Red and black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 bottle tomato ketchup
  • 1 can tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Brown roast on both sides in oil. Salt and pepper meat. Add 2 cups water, garlic and onion. Cook at 300 degrees until roast is tender. Cool.

  2. Sauce:

  3. Saute bell pepper and onion in oil. Add tomatoes and all other ingredients. Cook slowly for 1 hour.

  4. Slice and chop beef in bite-sized pieces. Add roast to sauce. Add most of the broth the roast was cooked in. Serve on toasted buns.
