Barbecued Tandoori Shrimp Sticks

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 5 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
  • 20 raw medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 20 wooden skewers or toothpicks soaked in cold water

Directions

  1. to make marinade: Combine yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger salt and spices in a nonmetallic bowl. Add shrimp and toss in marinade to coat each one well. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour. Thread 1 shrimp on each soaked skewer.

  2. To make shrimp sticks: Heat broiler. Heat a ridged cast-iron griddle grill pan or barbecue. Broil shrimp until they turn pink and lost their transparency, 3 minutes on each side. Sere hot, warm or at room temperature.

  3. 20 shrimp sticks
