Barbecues Apples and Currants

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (20 oz. each) pie spliced apples, drained
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed light- brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup currants

Directions

  1. Put apples in buttered shallow 2-quart baking dish Melt butter in saucepan. Add onion and mustard and saute, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes.

  2. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour over apples and bake, uncovered, in preheated 325 degree oven 50 to 60 minutes.

  3. Serve as a side dish with burger, hot dogs, pork chops or broiled poultry.
