Barbecued Beef- Flank Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. flank steak
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 can beef gravy
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley

Directions

  1. Score both sides of steak by making shallow diagonal cuts about 3/4 inch apart. With meat hammer; pound in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.

  2. In skillet, brown steak in shortening on both sides at 400 degrees. Add garlic and onion.

  3. Combine gravy, chili sauce and mustard and pour over meat. Cover. Cook at 220 degrees spooning sauce over steak periodically, 2 hours. Sprinkle with parsley to serve.
