Best Ever Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lbs. ground chuck
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 Tsp. oregano
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 large can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp. chicken bouillon or Tone's chicken base
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 6 saltine crackers, crushed

Directions

  1. Cook beef in olive oil until the pink is gone and then add spices. Put lid on and simmer for 5 minutes. Add flour and stir. Add tomatoes, water and bouillon; cover and simmer 30 minutes. Add sugar and crackers, simmer 10 minutes more.
