  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground chicken or turkey
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup fine dry whole-wheat breadcrumbs (see Tip)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 30 pearl-size fresh mozzarella balls

Directions

  1. To prepare sauce: Combine tomatoes, onion, wine, garlic, basil, oregano and salt in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.

  2. To prepare meatballs: Combine ground chicken (or turkey), egg, Parmesan, breadcrumbs, basil, oregano, garlic powder and salt in a medium bowl. Add the meatballs to the slow cooker.

  3. Cover and cook on High for 3 hours or on Low for 6 hours.
