Bavarian Lamb Stew with Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 lbs. boneless stew lamb, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. marjoram
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen baby lima beans
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 6 small whole onions
  • Dumplings:
  • 1 cup biscuit mix
  • 1/3 cup milk

Directions

  1. Combine flour, salt, paprika and pepper. Mix well. Coat meat with flour mixture.

  2. Heat oil in skillet. Add meat; cook until browned on all sides. Add water, tomato sauce, garlic, thyme nd marjoram. Mix well.

  3. Simmer covered for 20 minutes. Top with dumplings.

  5. Combine mix and milk in a bowl Mix well. Drop by teaspoonful onto vegetables and meat. Cover. Cook 5 minutes. Uncover, cook 10 minutes.
