(from castro15’s recipe box)

Categories: Pasta

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, diced (about 3/4 cup)
  • 8 ounces spicy pork or turkey sausage
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 1/2 cups medium pasta shells (or any other small shape pasta)
  • 1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (more for topping)

Directions

  1. In a pot or large saucepan with high sides, add the olive oil over medium-high heat.

  2. Add the onion and sautee for a couple of minutes. Add the sausage. Brown and crumble the sausage. Add the garlic for the last 30 seconds of cooking.

  3. Pour in the chicken broth, cream, rosemary, pasta, and broccoli (see note). Bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes or until sauce thickens (mine thickens around 12 minutes).

  4. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and add salt if needed. Serve immediately with additional grated Parmesan cheese on top.
