Dinner Rolls/Angie’s

1/2 RECIPE MADE 17 ROLLS
***For 1/2 recipe I used 2 packages of yeast

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C warm milk
  • 4 t active dry yeast
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 C soft butter
  • 2 t salt
  • 7 C flour, or as needed
  • Topping after baked-another 1/2 C melted butter

Directions

  1. Pour warm milk into large bowl

  2. Sprinkle with yeast and let rest 10 minutes

  3. Into yeast mixture beat (by hand) sugar, eggs, 1/2 C melted butter and salt

  4. Blend well

  5. Gradually stir in flour to make a soft ball. (Use wooden spoon and be certain its not too moist)-Don’t over manipulate

  6. DO NOT KNEAD

  7. LET RISE 1 HOUR with bowl covered

  8. Punch down

  9. Cover bowl, LET RISE AGAIN-took about 45 minutes

  10. Punch down

  11. LET RISE AGAIN-took about 50 minutes

  12. PREPARE GLASS cooking dish-using solid Crisco

  13. Break off from dough 2-3 inch pieces of dough, form into ball with lightly floured hands and minimal manipulation of dough

  14. Place balls in prepared dish with edges just touching

  15. COVER AND LET RISE AGAIN-UNTIL ROLLS ABOUT DOUBLED-took about 50 minutes

  16. Bake 400 degrees for about 20 minutes

  17. Brush with melted butter
