Cinnamon Rolls

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • Start with a recipe for Mother's Parker House Rolls or a sweet roll recipe that you like. You can even use a basic bread recipe. Add an egg and 2 additional T sugar.
  • Frosting:
  • 2 C powdered sugar
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 2 T milk or cream
  • dash salt
  • 1 t vanilla
  • Mix all together until smooth.

Directions

  1. Make rolls according to directions. Put onto a lightly floured surface. Let rest for 20 minutes. Roll out and shape into a rectangle about 3/4 inch thick. spread with soft butter. Be generous with the butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar and spread out so it covers the surface fairly evenly. sprinkle with cinnamon according to your likes. spread out evenly. some people like to add nuts and or raisins or other goodies. Roll into a roll. cut the cinnamon rolls. It is easier to cut with a string or thread. Lift up roll to slide thread under roll. Slice into 1/2 to one inch slices. Cut by crossing the thread and pulling tight. place on well buttered pan. bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. while still hot, frost with frosting.
