Cheesy Cauflower

Serves 6 people


  • 1 medium head cauliflower
  • Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 T butter
  • 2 T flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 C milk
  • 1 C shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tomato, cut into wedges
  • parsley


  1. Place whole cauliflower in large covered glass casserole. Cook cauliflower 12 to 16 minutes until just tender.
  2. Microwave butter in 2 cup glass measure 30 seconds or until melted. Blend in flour, salt, Worcestershire sauce and milk.

  3. Microwave 6 – 7 minutes or until sauce boils and thickens, stirring occasionally. Stir in cheese until melted.

  4. Arrange cauliflower on serving plate. Pour cheese sauce over ; garnish with tomato wedges and parsley.

  5. Microwave until heated through.

  6. This cheese sauce is a good basic cheese sauce. Serve with broccoli or asparagus spears or over toast topped with sliced boiled eggs then cheese sauce.

  7. The microwave cooking times in the recipes from Litton microwave cooking are probably too long for todays microwaves.
