Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lbs. ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. herbs de Provence
  • 3/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 oz. Roquefort or other blue cheese, crumbled
  • 4 brioche or egg hamburger buns, split
  • 4 slices red onion (1/2 inch)
  • 4 slices large tomato (1/2 inch)
  • 1 cup frisee or curly endive lettuce leaves

Directions

  1. Heat grill. Gently combine ground beef and herbes de Provence in medium bowl; shape into 4 (4-inch) patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Sprinkle with pepper and salt.

  2. Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or coals 9 to 12 minutes or until thoroughly cooked and no longer pink in center, turning once. Sprinkle with cheese; grill 30 to 60 seconds or until melted.

  3. Grill buns, onion and tomato, covered, over medium heat or coals 30 to 60 seconds or until buns are lightly toasted. Continue grilling vegetables an additional 1 to 2 minutes or until barely softened, turning once.

  4. Serve burgers in buns topped with onion, tomato and lettuce.
