Port Augusta Barge Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (10 oz.) can Ro-Tel diced tomatoes and green chiles
  • 1 can beer or water
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, chopped
  • 1 small can chopped green chiles
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. chile powder
  • 1/2 tp. ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, brown beef; drain. Return meat to skillet and saute onion (if using) and bell pepper with the meat. Stir in Ro-Tel, beer, cheese, rice, jalapenos, green chiles, the salt, hot sauce chile powder, black pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in sour cream and cook until heated through, but do not boil.
