Hamburger Steaks

Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and green beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, and 1 tsp Worcestershire. Divide the mixture into 4 patties.

  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter over medium-high heat.

  3. Add the patties to the skillet and cook on each side until cooked all the way through.

  4. Place the patties on a plate and set aside.

  5. Add the sliced onions to the same skillet over medium-high heat and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. Add the broth, ketchup, the other tsp of Worcestershire, salt and pepper to the skillet.

  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1 tbsp water. Whisk this mixture into the skillet. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low.

  8. Add the patties back to the skillet and heat through.
