Baked Water Chestnuts

(from nick’s recipe box)

Ingredients

  • 1 small can whole water chestnuts (roughly 12)
  • 4 slices thin sliced pork bacon
  • 1/2 bottle favorite bbq sauce

Directions

  1. Rinse and drain water chestnuts well. Blot with paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. Cut bacon slices into thirds. Wrap one third of a slice of bacon around each water chestnut and secure with toothpick by skewering through the top (this will later be used to pick up the item to eat!).

  3. Place into round 9" glass pie dish, spacing equally. Cover generously with bbq sauce.

  4. Bake in 350 oven for 25 minutes, or until bacon is cooked and bbq sauce becomes thick and bubbly. Remove from oven and let cool 10-15 minutes until sauce thickens even more. (I serve mine straight to the table in the pie plate!)
