Caramel Apple Sundaes

Add 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt to the caramel mixture for Salted Caramel Apple Sauce.
Add 1/4 cup whiskey to the skillet with the butter and brown sugar.
Serve the sauce over cinnamon ice cream.

  • 10 tbsp butter
  • 4 Granny Smith apples, cored and finely diced
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 pints vanilla ice cream, for serving


  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp of the butter over medium-high heat. Add the apples and saute, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Remove the apples to a plate and set aside.

  2. Return the skillet to the stove and reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining stick of butter and the brown sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes.

  3. Add the cinnamon and stir, cooking the mixture for another minute. Add the cream and stir it around, cooking it for another minute. Return the apples to the pan and stir them to coat. Spoon the mixture over ice cream.
