Taco Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato passata / puree OR 1 can (16 ounce) US tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 + teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust heat to taste)
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan. Mix then simmer for 10 minutes on medium low.

  2. ansfer to serving bowl, cool and serve with tacos or other Mexican dishes requiring a sauce. Makes around 2.5 cups.

  3. Or cool, then refrigerate for up to 5 days OR freeze.
