Bacon and Sage Drop Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plain yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground red pepper
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh sage

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and red pepper. Using a pastry blender, cut in cold butter until mixture is crumbly. Add milk, bacon and sage, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Drop 8 mounds of dough onto prepared pan.

  3. Bake until golden brown, 18-20 minutes. Let cool on pan for 5 minutes. Serve warm.
