Slow Cooker Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef, ground pork, or a blend of the two
  • 1 cup finely chopped carrot
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 lb. spaghetti, prepared as directed

Directions

  1. Cook meat, carrot, onion and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until meat is browned.

  2. Transfer (undrained) to a slow cooker. Stir in crushed tomatoes, milk, tomato paste, salt, basil, oregano, black pepper and red pepper flakes. Cover and cook on LOW 8 hours. Stir in 1/4 cup Parmesan. Serve over pasta topped with additional Parmesan.
