Grilled Spicy Lamb Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground lamb
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 tbsp. chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp dry sherry
  • 1 tsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp molasses
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 4 Greek pita flatbreads
  • 2 oz. feta, crumbled
  • Chopped tomato, cucumber slices, red onion slivers, and Greek yogurt, for garnish

Directions

  1. Mix together lamb, mint, cilantro, oregano, garlic, sherry, vinegar, and molasses in a large bowl. Shape into four 4 1/2-inch-thick patties.

  2. Stir together cumin, salt, black pepper, red pepper and allspice in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over lamb patties.

  3. Brush a grill pan with oil and preheat over medium heat. Grill burgers 5 to 7 minutes per side. Set aside.

  4. Arrange pitas on grill pan; grill until hot, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Serve burgers wrapped in pitas and topped with feta. Garnish with tomato, cucumber, red onion and Greek yogurt.
