5-Ingredient Marinara

(from Gonzo’s recipe box)

This recipe is easy to make, and easy to dress up. I like to add chopped shallots in the first step, and sliced bell pepper and mushrooms along with the tomatoes.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 pinch Basil
  • 1 pinch mint
  • 28oz can Crushed Tomatoes

Directions

  1. Add garlic and herbs to oil, heat on low until garlic begins to brown, about 5 min

  2. Add tomatoes, raise to med-high until sauce reaches a soft-boil, then lower to med

  3. Add salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

  4. Optional: add a healthy pinch of red-pepper flakes

  5. Simmer for 5 min, stirring occasionally
