Sauteed Sirloin and Mushrooms

(from castro15’s recipe box)

Categories: Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/4 lbs. boneless beef top sirloin steak
  • 3/4 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp teriyaki sauce, soy sauce or hoisin sauce
  • 1 3/4 cups packaged sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, cut into very thin wedges

Directions

  1. Trim fat from steak. Cut steak in 4 serving size portions. Sprinkle both sides of steaks with cracked pepper; pat pepper into meat with fingers. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add steaks; reduce heat to medium. Cook steaks for 9 to 11 minutes for medium-rare to medium. Remove steaks from skillet, reserving drippings; cover steaks to keep warm.

  2. Carefully add beef broth and teriyaki sauce to drippings in skillet. Cook until bubbly, stirring to scrape up browned bits. Stir in mushrooms and onion. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated. Transfer steaks to dinner plates; top with mushroom mixture.
