Chai Tea Mix

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp ginger
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp orange peel
  • 1 Tbsp cardamom
  • 1 Tbsp coriander
  • 2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cloves

Directions

  1. Mix together and store in a glass jar.

  2. Shake well before using.

  3. To make chai: Combine 1/2 cup heated milk and 1/2 cup heated water with 1 tsp above spice mix, 1 tsp loose-leaf black tea, and 1 tsp honey or maple syrup, and a splash of vanilla. Steep for 5 minutes. Pour through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a mug and serve.

  4. Concentrate option: For each desired cup of chai, follow the above directions, omitting milk. Store in the refridgerator after chai spices and tea are strained from the chai. To prepare each cup of chai desired, mix 1/2 cup of concentrate with 1/2 cup of milk. Heat and serve, or serve over ice for iced chai.
