crust Martha Stuart/apple pie

Ingredients

  • Macerate apples-
  • Cut and in bowl
  • Add 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t ginger
  • 1/2 t salt
  • pinch cloves
  • 1 C sugar
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Can refrigerate an hour or more orover night
  • Crust
  • 2 1/2 C flour- unbleached all purpose
  • 1 t sugar
  • 1 1/2 t salt -mix in processor
  • 2 sticks icy cold butter-1/2 inch thick pulse
  • Add 7-10 T ice water add gradually and pulse
  • form into disc in plastic wrap-roll again when in plastic-refrigerate
  • Roll out on floured counter-Makes 1 crust
