spinach croissant

Ingredients

  • 2 piecrust
  • onion-diced
  • garlic 1 -2 cloves minced
  • 1-2 T butter
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 package frozen spinach- thawed and drained
  • 3 T creme
  • 3/4 C gruyere cheese or fontina
  • salt/pepper
  • Squeeze lemon juice
  • Dash hot sauce
  • egg wash for top
  • light flaky salt for top

Directions

  1. roll each crust into 11-12 inch circle and place each on wax paper on pizza pan. cover with seran wrap and refrigerate

  2. saute onion in butter

  3. add garlic and saute briefly

  4. add flour- might need a tad more flour and cook 1 minute

  5. add spinach

  6. add cheese

  7. add creme-might need a tad more creme

  8. add salt and pepper

  9. Add lemon juice and dash hot sauce

  10. divide mixture between 2 pie crusts

  11. cut each into 1/8s

  12. roll from edge to center to form croissant appearing roll

  13. Can refrigerate now for a short time

  14. TOP WITH EGG WASH

  15. TOP WITH LIGHT FLAKY SALT

  16. Bake 425 for 20-30 minutes until golden brown
