vanilla ice cream

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 C half n half(used 3/4C cream + 1/2C whole milk)
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 1 1/4 C whipping cream
  • 2 t vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. heat half n half until bubbles form around edge of pan—do not boil—remove from heat

  2. beat egg yolks and sugar on low for 1 minute or until slightly thickened

  3. gradually add half n half on low-mix til blended

  4. cook mixture til bubbles form on edge of pan—transfer mix to large bowl

  5. gently stir in cream, vanilla and salt

  6. cover and refrigerate 2 hours or until cold

  7. pour cold mix into freezer bowl and let stir 15 to 20 minutes or until it becomes solf serve ice cream

  8. transfer mix to a container and freeze`
