Crumb Topped Peanut Butter Bars

Ingredients

  • Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 1 package (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup Jif® Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups quick rolled oats

Directions

  1. HEAT oven to 350ºF.

  2. Spray a 13 × 9 × 2-inch pan with a no-stick cooking spray.

  3. Melt chocolate chips in a dry, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave at additional, 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until chips are melted. Set aside.

  4. BEAT together brown sugar, peanut butter and butter or margarine, with an electric mixer, until smooth and creamy.

  5. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until well blended.

  6. STIR together flour, baking soda and salt. Add to peanut butter mixture.

  7. Beat just until combined. Stir in oats

  8. Press 3/4 of dough into prepared baking pan.

  9. Spread evenly with melted chocolate.

  10. Dot chocolate layer with remaining dough.

  11. Bake for 24-26 minutes. Cool.

  12. Cut into 24 bars.

  13. Makes 2 dozen bars
